Gabriel’s most influential music and dance teacher was the great internationally renowned Edo Sie with whom he studied intensively for years. By age sixteen he played in the former Soviet Union on a tour that Cat Stevens brother help to organize. Upon returning from this tour he began his studies with jazz guitarist and pedagogue Craig Anderson. He continued his studies with Tim Sparks, Tony Hauser and Pat Donohue. He has most recently studied with classical guitarist and composer Jeffrey Van and Humberto Wilkes, a living legend of flamenco guitar.
